Samsung showcased a custom Smart Surfboard it made for Brazilian world class professional surfer Gabriel Medina. The problem Samsung was solving for Medina was easy
communication with his coach while surfing. The surfboard has a dot matrix LED display that shows messages from their coach. The display also reads out wind speed, wave ferquency and other relevant data. But it does more than just that, it connects the Surfboard to the net, showing encouraging tweets from fans and other notifications. A Galaxy S7 plugs into a slot in the surfboard. For many, Samsung is solving a problem nobody had. The point of going to the middle of the sea on a small slat for many is to escape from the internet, twitter and updates.
