Chief iPad engineer Bob Mansfield will now lead Apple Car team

Senior Apple executive Bob Mansfield  who was responsible for the engineering efforts behind the iMac, iPad and the MacBook
Air, will now be heading the Apple Car project.According to the Wall Street Journal, people close to the matter said that Mansfield who joined Apple under Steve Jobs in 1999 would be reporting to Tim Cook on Apple’s Project Titan.
Until, now very little information regarding the Apple Car has managed to surface online. We do know that there are about 600 people working on it. We know that Apple has hired the best of best on the job. Apple CEO, Tim Cook too has given out hints stating that it will be a “massive change” to the auto industry.
We also know that the announcement of the Apple Car has been delayed to 2021 as well.
Earlier reports pointed to 2020 launch for the Apple Car, a project that has been under wraps for a really long time. Back in January there was big news about project head, Steve Zadesky quitting Apple after 16 years. The same was attributed to personal reasons.
According to 9to5Mac, there were about 600 people involved in the project about a year ago. MacRumours reported back in April that Apple has gathered a bunch of open-minded recruits in a secret car lab in Berlin where they have been given all the freedom to think and do, whatever they want without boundaries and restrictions.
