Renault teases AMT version of the Kwid, expected to launch this month

The Renault Kwid will be arriving in an automatic transmission variant very soon as Renault has released a teaser as well as started accepting bookings for the new variant. It is expected to arrive later this month and one
can book it with a token amount of Rs 10,000. Renault had showcased the AMT version of the compact hatchback at the Auto Expo 2016 show.
The AMT variant will be utilising the newly launched 1-litre engine version of the Kwid in the RXT top-trim variant. The 999cc three-cylinder petrol engine produces 67bhp and a peak torque of 91Nm. The car will come with the new EasyR automated manual transmission (AMT) unit. This is the same unit that is being used on the new Duster AMT. The Kwid AMT however will come with a rotary style gear selector instead of a shifter stick, which looks interesting.

There won’t be a lot of changes in terms of design so expect the car to look similar to the Kwid 1-litre version. The car will however come with features like a 7-inch MEDIANAV touchscreen display, front power windows and more.
The expected price is between Rs 3.2 to Rs 4.9 lakh. Considering the features that Renault is offering, the new Kwid AMT could give the Maruti Suzuki Alto K-10 automatic some tough competition.
