A new concept was unveiled by American start-up technology company Faraday Future which sounds over the top. The FFZERO1 is the latest attempt at making a super EV that
has just one seat and no doors. Probably that’s why the peculiar name.
According to the company, if this vehicle goes into production, it will be a limited to a few units. It will offer close to 1000bhp and a top speed of more than 320 kmph which means 0-100 kmph in less than three seconds. Now those are some crazy numbers for an electric car.
Before anyone gets too excited, this is just a concept. If the concept does go into production, it will be one impressive machine. The concept will come with autonomous driving while the batteries will sit in the centre under the floor. It sits on a platform called Variable Platform Architecture (VPA) in which the battery blocks are assembled into groups of six and arranged into strings. The vehicle’s size, shape, weight, power output, and travel range can be altered by removing or adding these strings.
Faraday Future says, “We are starting with a clean slate, and are more able to tackle challenges like autonomous driving and battery range with a novel, uninhibited approach. Instead of attempting to retrofit existing products and outmoded practises to the task at hand, we face it head on with original concepts and new technologies.”
The company also said that it will offer an intuitive UI which visualises vehicle velocity and the flow of data to and from the system. It also offers smartphone connectivity for real-time data visualisation and interaction. The smartphone app will enable remote setup, customise vehicle configurations, and adjustable power outputs.
