Apple addresses iPhone 6s battery issue for China customers

Apple has formally apologised for the battery issue in its iPhone 6s models sold in the Chinese markets. The issue specifically to do with the battery inside the iPhone 6s leads to
unexpected shutdowns of the device, which Apple claims is due to a faster battery degradation.
Apple has a special page up on its Chinese support site which describes its investigation and the outcome.
“We found that a small number of iPhone 6s devices made in September and October 2015 contained a battery component that was exposed to controlled ambient air longer than it should have been before being assembled into battery packs. As a result, these batteries degrade faster than a normal battery and cause unexpected shutdowns to occur.”
The Cupertino giant was quick to mention that its battery component failure was not a “safety issue”.
The replacement will be free of cost for customers who are experiencing the unexpected shutdowns. Apple has a page set up for owners to find out whether their device is a eligible for the battery swap.
As mentioned above, the iPhone 6s models affect only those smartphones manufactured between September and October. Additionally Apple took some time out to mention that the iPhone has been designed to shut down automatically under certain conditions. One of these would be extreme cold weather where the shutdown occurs to protect the electronics insider from low voltage.
