Android Wear 2.0 arriving on 9 February alongside two new smartwatches

The Android Wear 2.0 update was announced last year and was said to bring in features like a full Qwerty keyboard, standalone Google Play Store, new material UI and many more
. It never launched on time as Google took a decision to launch developer preview updates so bugs could be ironed out. If you have been patiently waiting for the next Android Wear update for your smartwatch, here is some good news. According to a report, Google will finally launch Android Wear 2.0 at a special event on 9 February. Two new smartwatches will also be launched, both of which will be made by LG.
The report comes from well known tipster, Evan Blass who confirmed the launch on his Twitter account. The two new smartwatches will be made by LG, one of the first Android Wear smartwatch makers. The LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style will be the first devices that will run on the new Android Wear 2.0 platform. This leak coincides with a previous report that confirmed Google to be working with a hardware company to launch two new smartwatches.

Considering the launch period, we can expect the LG Watch Sport and the Watch Style to hit the upcoming MWC show in Barcelona. According to Venture Beat, the products should start selling in the US on the following day of the launch. Information about the upcoming LG smartwatches had broken last year where Android Police had published mockups which were claimed to be very similar to the upcoming products.

Expect the Watch Sport to be 14.2mm in thickness available in titanium and dark blue colour options while the 10.8mm thick Watch Style will come with swappable straps and titanium, silver, and rose gold colour variants. Both will have circular OLED displays, with the Watch Sport having a 1.38 inch, 480×480 resolution display and the Watch Style will have a 1.2-inch, 360×360 face. The Sport will also offer more RAM (768MB versus 512MB), and a larger battery (430mAh versus 240mAh).
