Xiaomi CEO confirms artificial intelligence lab; will arrive in future products

At a media conference held in China, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun hinted that artificial intelligence (AI) will soon become mainstream and will be a standard inclusion in consumer products in
the future.
The conference with Lei Jun was first reported by MyDrivers which reveals the company’s push for artificial intelligence. Jun explained how the future of technology companies is AI. The CEO explained that a number of major breakthroughs have been made and thanks to this, Xiaomi has in store a product line up for the near future that is based on artificial intelligence.
Also confirmed at the conference, was the company’s AI laboratory. Jun revealed that Xiaomi has a proper laboratory set up for exploration in AI and development of AI-based products.
For now the CEO did not share any detail about what these AI-based products will be.
With Samsung soon to announce its own Bixby, and HTC already having its Sense Companion, it is high time that we saw something coming from Xiaomi, that already has a vast range of IoT enabled devices and consumer appliances out in various markets. All that’s left is to give it a name, a voice and connect all the dots.
Clearly, the first signs of AI being incorporated into Xiaomi products should start from its extensive smartphone range.
