Following the release of iOS 11 Developer Beta 10, Apple rolled out iOS 11 Public Beta 9 which can be downloaded and installed by non-developers on supported iOS devices.
iOS 11 is packed with tons of exciting new features. It is a major upgrade over iOS 10 that boasts new features such as native screen recorder, document scanning, Do Not Disturb While Driving, peer-to-peer Apple Pay payments, and much more.
We’re just a few days away from the September 12 event where Apple is rumored to unveil new iPhone models as well as release the final build of iOS 11 to the public. If you can’t wait till then and wish to get your hands on iOS 11 right now, then you can download and install iOS 11 Public Beta 9 on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch easily.
The public beta means that anyone with an iOS device can install and try iOS 11 for free without being part of Apple’s Developer Program.
Note: You first have to register for the public beta testing program and enroll your device, after which you can download and install iOS 11 beta onto your device.

Before You Install iOS 11 Public Beta 9..
- This is a beta build of iOS 11 and might contain bugs and issues. We highly recommend that you wait for a few more days and install the final build of iOS 11 that will be officially released by Apple.
- After updating to iOS 11 beta, if you wish to downgrade, you can downgrade to iOS 10.3.3 only.
- Make sure that your iOS device is compatible with iOS 11 using the list below.

Make an Archived Backup of Your iOS Device
- 1. It’s very important that you first take a complete backup of your iOS device before upgrading to iOS 11. Things could go wrong during the upgrade process so keeping a backup of your current state will allow you to restore your important files without losing them.To begin, connect your iOS device to your computer via a Lightning USB cable, then open iTunes
- 2. Click on the device icon at the top of iTunes.
- 3. iTunes will display a summary of your iOS device. Click on the Back Up Now button to save a backup of your device on your computer.Note: For extra security, you can tick the Encrypt Backup option. You’ll be asked to provide a password for the encrypted backup. When you choose to encrypt your backup, iTunes will also backup your sensitive data such as passwords, logins, Health data, and so on.

- 4. Next, a prompt will appear asking whether you want to backup your apps as well. Click on Transfer Purchases (or Backup Apps) so that iTunes also includes apps in your backup.

- 5. Once the backup is complete, you have to archive it so that it doesn’t get overwritten accidentally by the iOS 11 backup. Click on iTunes in the menu bar, then choose Preferences.
- 6. Switch to the Devices tab, right-click on your latest backup, and choose Archive.You are now ready to download and install iOS 11 Public Beta 9. Enroll in the Public Beta Testing Program
- 1. Open Safari on your iOS device and go to beta.apple.com.
- 2. Next, tap on the Sign Up button.
- 3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password to proceed.Note: If you receive a popup with a sign in request, tap on the Allow button. You’ll then receive a 6 digit verification code via another popup on your iOS device. Enter the verification code on Apple’s website.
- 4. On the Terms & Conditions page, scroll to the bottom and tap on the Acceptbutton.
- 5. You’re now registered for the public beta program. The next step is to install the iOS 11 beta profile. Tap on Enroll Your Devices in the top menu.

- 6. Tap on the iOS tab.

- 7. Scroll down and tap on the Download profile button.

8. A profile will open in Settings for installing iOS 11 beta. Tap on Install in the top right corner.

- Once the profile is installed, you’ll be prompted to restart your device. Tap on the Restart button.Now that you’ve installed the iOS 11 beta profile, you’re now ready to download and install the firmware on your device. Read the next section to find out how.
Download and Install iOS 11 Public Beta 9 on Your iOS Device
- 1. Open Settings on your iOS device, then go to General.
- 2. Tap on Software Update.
- 3. You should see a pending iOS 11 beta update. Tap on Download & Install.
- 4. On the Terms & Conditions screen, tap on Accept.
- 5. The download will now begin. It will take some time depending on your internet speed and the stress on Apple’s servers.
- 6. Once the download has been completed, go back to the Software Update page in Settings and tap on the Install Now button. Your device will prepare for the iOS 11 update and will begin the installation process. Do not interfere with the update process until it has been completed successfully.
