Google announced its Daydream VR platform along with the new Daydream View VR headset a month back. Ahead of the official launch of the headset in the US, Google has
announced the dedicated YouTube VR app which is available for download from the Google Play Store.
The new app joins Street View, CNN VR, Hunters Gate, The Turning Forest, The Guardian VR and Mekorma VR which are already available for download.
While YouTube is well known platform globally, the VR-ready version of the app will be completely in VR. According to the new Play Store info, the YouTube VR app will allow you to experience every YouTube channel, video and creator in virtual reality. So assumingly there will be few differences between the amount and level of content when compared to the standard YouTube app. The new app will let you browse and search either by voice commands or by using keyboard controls. Users will be able to watch content in full 360-degree video format, and also watch standard rectangular videos.
The app is now live on the Google Play Store, however you will need a compatible Daydream ready smartphone which for now is only the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. Also you will need a Daydream-compatible headset. Again only the Daydream View is currently compatible. The smartphones are currently available however there is no news as to when the Daydream View headset will come to India.
