Apple iPhone 8 expected to start from $870, $1070 for the most expensive model: Analyst

While many would indeed be tired of seeing render after render of Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone surface online, there’s something more interesting that showed up today. That would be the price tag of the upcoming Apple iPhone 8, which UBS analyst Steven Milunovich predicts will start from a not-so-pricey $870 (roughly Rs 56,000).
First reported by Business Insider, the new price predictions were revealed from a note sent to investors.
In the past, there have been similar predictions which claimed that Apple’s tenth anniversary iPhone would start from a $1000 (roughly Rs 64,000 for the 128 GB model). Milunovich has changed his predictions from an earlier $1,000 to $870 that should calm down Apple enthusiasts. The analyst predicts that Apple would price its top-of-the-line iPhone 8 model (with 256 GB internal storage) at $1,070 (roughly Rs 69,000).
Adding to the above claims, the UBS analyst also said in a detailed note that the iPhone 8 model would account for 45 percent of iPhone sales in the coming year, which means that most iPhone users would flock to the iPhone 8, instead of the usual iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus models.

It is wise to note that these pricing predictions by analysts are based on modules and components that are to be included in the said smartphone. So the actual cost will indeed be higher than the predicted prices.
Add to this local taxes and duties in countries like India, and the final price may be a lot higher than what analysts predicted.
Samsung recently launched its flagship Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones in India. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is priced at Rs 57,900 while the larger Galaxy S8+ is priced at Rs 64,900.
With last year’s iPhone 7 Plus topping out at Rs 92,000 for the 256 GB model. So keeping this in mind along with the full face OLED display and dual cameras as standard on the iPhone 8, we should expect the price tags for the same to start from a hefty Rs 80,000 at least.
