Microsoft Surface Laptop with Windows 10 S leaks ahead of official launch

Microsoft ‘Surface Laptop’ has leaked a day before its official launch. The leak reveals the screen size and the Windows version that the device will ship with. The Surface Laptop could potentially be the latest in the Surface line-up coming with a 13.5-inch clam-shell form factor.

One interesting part here is that the keyboard does not detach from the screen and it functions as a normal laptop would. The laptop features PixelSense display, the same one that comes with other devices in the line-up along with Windows 10 S. Windows 10 S is a special lightweight version of Windows that will come locked to Windows Store. It means that you will only be able to install apps that are available on the Widows Store.

The leaks point out that the laptop will come with an SD card slot and the report by Windows Central details that it will come with one display port and headphone jack. The Laptop will be equipped with the proprietary charging port available in Microsoft Surface line-up. The device will come in four colors, Graphite Gold, Platinum, Burgundy, and Cobalt Blue.

The launch event could focus on the education sector and products that enable education. When it comes to education products, it’s safe to assume that the primary market in most cases has always been the US and, to some extent, Europe. This area has been Apple’s domain for a long time, but Google’s Chromebooks have been steadily eating into the market.
Given Microsoft’s increasing focus on cloud services, we’re expecting to see some sort of cloud service offerings specifically targeting the education space, this includes Office365 and OneDrive. Unfortunately, nobody is expecting to see an update to the Surface Pro line or Windows Phone.
