10. Tesla’s Model 3
If you’re wondering what the hype over the Model 3 is all about, it’s important to acknowledge that it’s not just going to be another new electric car; it’s anticipated to be one of the world’s cheapest EVs. “The Model 3 is far more than just another car,” Michelle Krebs, senior analyst at AutoTrader, told The Verge. “If successful, it would mark a breakthrough for electric vehicles and would be promising in terms of the proliferation of the technology.”
9. Space X Falcon
Multi-stage space rockets are a bittersweet affair: One minute, they’re sitting on the launch pad, shiny, expensive, and awaiting an explosion-fueled climb. They next, they’re dropping back to Earth in pieces, unceremoniously plopping in the ocean, and sent off to the scrap heap for good. Not anymore. In March, SpaceX launched a “used” Falcon 9 first stage, an unprecedented achievement in spaceflight. It was a milestone for the company, which designed the Falcon’s first stage to land upright—and intact—back on Earth after every launch. Perhaps more importantly, it proved SpaceX’s concept valid. Rockets cost tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of dollars to build. Being able to reuse them could significantly reduce the cost of spaceflight. That may pave the way for all manner of aerospace innovations.
8. Apple Watch Series 3
The Series 3 will come in the same four variants as the Series 2: Apple Watch, Apple Watch Nike+, Apple Watch Hermés, and Apple Watch Edition. Case finishes will be similar to the previous generations, with the exception of Rose Gold, which has been removed from the lineup, and with the addition of a Gray Ceramic Edition model.
Inside the Series 3 Apple Watch is Apple’s new W2 wireless chip, which offers 85% faster wireless communication – Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth – while also being 50% more power efficient. 7. Snapchat Spectacles

Spectacles could use improvement—they’re not great when it’s dark out and they’re troublesome for prescription eyeglass wearers. But Snap’s first foray into hardware shows promise at a time when camera companies like GoPro are struggling.
6. Microsoft Surface Laptop
Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop is a first for the Windows maker: a conventional laptop that runs a stripped-down but more battery-efficient operating system called Windows 10 S. The company is aiming the $999 Surface Laptop at the educational set, but it’s bound to go toe-to-toe with Apple’s entry-level MacBook Air as well. Other hardware makers, meanwhile, will offer Windows 10 S on far cheaper devices that will compete with Google’s Chromebooks. Together, the Surface Laptop and the new version of Windows show Microsoft is willing to mix things up in the notebook world—to consumers’ benefit.
5. Microsoft Xbox One X
Know to be the most powerful gaming console in the world was Unveiled at E3 2017, the world’s largest annual gaming expo, the Xbox One X’ hardware itself isn’t much of a surprise. Microsoft has teased the console’s hardware a number of times these last few months and the only items we weren’t sure of were the final design and the final price of the console.
To recap, the new console is running an 8-core AMD CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz, a GPU that’s rated at 6 TFLOPS, 12 GB of GDDR5 RAM and a 1 TB HDD. This is a huge bump in performance over the original Xbox One and about 50 percent more power than the PS4 Pro, on paper anyway. A Blu-Ray drive is also included in the package.
4. eSight 3
In a world of Internet-connected coffeemakers and juicers and whatnot, it’s nice to find a gadget aiming to solve problems of a higher order. The eSight is an over-eye visor that helps legally blind people navigate via a combined high-definition camera and video display. Showing a live feed on a pair of OLED displays placed in front of the wearer’s eyes, the lightweight, hands-free device do everything from read to provide directions. With virtually no input lag from the front-facing camera to the screens, eSight is a true augmented reality headset.
3. Nintendo Switch
For about as long as game consoles have existed, players have had to choose between gaming in front of a TV or holding a tiny screen in their hands while out and about. Not so with the Nintendo Switch, the first console that’s truly designed for both at-home and on-the-go entertainment. The Switch consists of a tablet with a 6.2-inch screen with slots for attaching Nintendo’s Joy-Con controllers on either side, turning it into a handheld video game machine. But when you’re at home, you can slide the slate into a dock that hooks up to your TV and play it like a traditional console. That “play anywhere, anytime” approach, combined with a stellar games roster, from the recently launched Super Mario Odyssey to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, makes the Switch a true knockout
2. Apple iPhone X
Yes, it’s expensive. Yes, you’ll probably have a hard time getting your hands on one. And yes, Android did it first. But the iPhone X’s edge-to-edge screen and facial recognition system will undoubtedly set a new standard for phones to come. For one, Apple’s Face ID system, even despite the security concerns, is already being used in more creative ways than Samsung’s facial identification tech. Third-party apps like Snapchat and Warby Parker are taking advantage of the iPhone X’s face-mapping technology to project realistic masks over your eyes or select glasses that suit your face’s shape. That, combined with a sharp camera, long battery life, and large screen packed into a more palatable size, make Apple’s iPhone X a top pick.
1.Samsung Galaxy S8
Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Android handsets set the standard for smartphones in 2017. It may have not been the first phone with a nearly borderless screen, but the Galaxy S8’s exquisitely curved display certainly made it the among most attractive phones of the year. Not to mention its eye-popping OLED display, which for a long time was the best you could ask for on a phone. Samsung also made an effort to simplify the phone’s software, cutting a lot of the extraneous features that made its older phones feels clunky.
